Bench, pedal, lips…

What on earth does that mean?

Selecting keywords from the OO that we want to know, the 4 guys create a mysterious atmosphere…

 

The long awaited CD debut of D-BOYS strongest unit, D☆DATE, is finally decided! The single “ato 1cm no mirai” which is released on December 1st, is a positive song whose music makes everyone feel endless power. Here we put some keywords selected from the lyrics in an envelope and together with the new member Horii they’re doing a quibbling over trivialities discussion about the words that they draw! Unfortunately Yuichi is missing because of his poor physical health, but let’s wait for his healthy appearance together with the 4 members!

BENCH

 

Araki: With this, let’s break the advance guard and let the unit’s strongest one draw!

Igarashi: Yes! Well… THIS!!! It’s “bench”! (laugh)

Seto: Bench?

Igarashi: When I was filming for “Rookies”, I was sleeping on the bench in the break time, so it was a substitute for a bed.

Seto: It was the same for me at “Tumbling” filming! There was one in the club room of the boys’ rhythmic gymnastic club~

Igarashi: Then there are also these “Please be careful, this was just painted!” If you sit down thoughtlessly it’ll be a terrible thing, but jeans that look like they are designed by a designer have a nice feeling, right? (laugh)

Araki: Also, it happens that the wallet chain will be stuck and torn into pieces.

Horii: It also happened that when I sat down, there was a gum attached to my bottom.

Igarashi: Yes, yes!

Punishment word: Funny talk

 

Araki: Well, I’m going to draw the next! Tada! “Funny talk”?

Seto: (While looking at JUNON staff) This is a word that is not in the lyrics but a punishment word, right? Is it okay if I talk first?

Igarashi: Oh, Seto, you want to talk first to make it easy, don’t you. (laugh)

Seto: Yes. (laugh) …I heard this from a friend, a salaryman and a high school student had a fist fight at a nearby station. Then, the high school student was weaker and being beat up, the people around him helped him with trying to stop the fight, but the student’s face and other parts were full of blood. When his friends approached him with “are you okay?” and helped him to stand up again, on his t-shirt there was written “WIN! (victory)”…

3 others: Gahahahaha

Igarashi: This one was funny!

Seto: I’m glad I said it at the beginning.

Araki: Interesting~…. With this, it ends with Seto, right? (laugh) I don’t have anything to say anyway.

Igarashi: Right. This one was good. And interesting.

Horii: It was fun!

Seto: Eh~? (bewilderment)

 

FUTURE

 

Igarashi: Talking about “Future (mirai)”, I was Hibino Mirai in “Ultraman Mebius”.

Araki: Yes, I watched it!

Igarashi: So that means that I’m the most emotional attached to future, I think.

Seto: The future is too far away, so I don’t know. How far might it be…

Igarashi: My future is… becoming father who is able to participate in the sports festival.

Araki: That’s right. You want to show kids your cool side.

Horii: My mother gave birth to me when she was 22 years old.

Araki: Early.

Seto: I’m 22 years old too, so if I wanted to have the same parent and child feeling, I’d have to marry right now or I wouldn’t make it, right? But some day I’d like to have a child. Isn’t it mysterious when someone is born whose face is similar to your own?

Igarashi: Seto saying the word mysterious is strange. (laugh)

 

HOPE

 

Seto: Ah, it’s similar to “future”, right.

Igarashi: It’s a positive song so there are many of these words.

Seto: I want a lot of people to get to know D☆DATE.

Araki: I want to show fans a beautiful dream.

Seto: Of course, because the song itself is positive and a song that encourages, even in a world without dreams or hope, I want the person who listens to the song to get hope for the future. (Seto with a triumphant look!)

 

LIPS

 

Igarashi: Speaking of lips, I think of Seto!

Araki: Unanimously Seto!

Igarashi: If I could, I would be play-biting Seto’s lips the whole time, before sleeping or so. I want to chomp them.

3 others: Ahahahaha.

Seto: Can we please stop now? (laugh)

Araki: It’s going to become colder now, so the lips will get dry.

Horii: Lip balm is a necessity.

Igarashi: When girls sometimes have their mouth half opened carelessly, I feel like saying “Close it!” It ruins a cute face.

Horii: Ah, I think so too! Guys are okay?

Igarashi: I don’t really pay attention to guys’ lips. (laugh)

Seto: I never really paid attention to lips.

Araki: I never paid attention to the half opened mouth that Shunji was talking about, but to gross and shiny lips of girls. I don’t like when they leave a mark on the glass.

Seto: …Araki, somehow sounding like an adult.

 

PEDAL

 

Seto: Yes, next is “pedal”! …uhm? Pedal? (laugh)

Igarashi: Only difficult themes. (laugh)

Araki: Aren’t pedal used for vehicles called road racer? They are only put in, so it’s easy to fall out and it’s dangerous. That’s why I think that pedals like ladies’ bicycles have them are the best.

Araki: Then, pedals of mountain bikes are a little solid, right? Driving them barefoot hurts, right? I think that it would be better when the pedals are a little softer like gum products. LIGHT

 

Araki: Okay, I’ll draw. (drawing one from the envelope) “Light”!

Horii: Wah, it’s difficult again!

Araki: Hikari (light) is slower than Nozomi, right?

3 others: Ahahahaha.

Seto: The shinkansen [fast train] Hikari, right? Certainly Nozomi is faster. (agreement)

Igarashi: The next one?

 

TOMORROW

 

Araki: Wah, another positive word came out.

Igarashi: I’m in New York tomorrow, because of work though.

Horii: Nice~ New York. I never went there.

Araki: But when you go to New York tomorrow, it’ll be today again when you arrive there.

Seto: Time difference is something strange, right?

Igarashi: That’s why I want to sleep on the plane and pretend that today didn’t happen.

Seto: Ahahaha, you want to pretend that today didn’t happen. (laugh)

Araki: It’s like a really long day, right.

Seto: What will I do tomorrow… I have normal work, but I don’t know what will happen.

Horii: It would be nice if the sun shone tomorrow, because the weather has been bad for so long. I want the sun to suddenly shine.

 

PIECES

 

Seto: When talking about “pieces”, you immediately think of puzzles, right.

Araki: If there is one piece missing, you can’t complete it anymore, right?

Igarashi: Ah, I have a memory about puzzles! In elementary school we had a puzzle that we created all together, but we dissembled it and now everyone has one piece so that when we’ll have a class meeting, we could set it up again.

Seto: Whoa it’s like “ONE PIECE”, so cool! (excitement) It’d liked to do something like that too.

Igarashi: But the day when we meet is not decided. Or I just don’t remember it.

Araki: It’s good to have the dream.

Igarashi: I have it at my family’s home, but I’d like to meet up for real.

Horii: But if only one person is missing, the puzzle can’t be completed, right?

Araki: That’s right. The CD debut of us D☆DATE with the new member Horii was decided, but it’s sad that Yuichi isn’t here.

Igarashi: I want him to come back soon.

Seto: Yes, because we are D☆DATE with 5 members!

 

Hit word: free talk

 

Seto: If it’s free talk, let’s talk about D☆DATE.

Igarashi: Then, leave it to me! Let’s start first with explaining the reason of the unit’s name!! The D is from D-BOYS, the DATE has for one the meaning of days and if you write it in romaji it’s also “date otoko no date” [dude/dandy]. Then, if you analyse each letter, D stands for dream, A stands for ambitious, T stands for technician…

3 others: Eh, this?! (laugh)

Igarashi: Ah, wrong! (laugh) It stands for talent and E is for entertainment.

Seto: That’s right. The fans also helped us with thinking about the name, and the lyrics of “ato 1cm no mirai” were also recruited, so we made them while thinking “how would it be if this future and light meet (face to face)?” That’s why we didn’t create them by ourselves, but everyone participated in it.

Igarashi: Right, that’s why it’s also everyone’s fault that it contains words like “pedal” and “light” which are difficult to talk about! (laugh)

 

GOAL

 

Araki: So we finally reached the goal of this project. (laugh)

Seto: It was a long journey. But for us it’s the start now.

Araki: That’s right. The feeling of cutting the goal tape is nice but instead of the goal tape I’m happy to shower in the cheering support of the fans.

Igarashi: Then we always want to stand at the start line.

Horii: For me, every day is studying, so I want to follow my sempai’s examples.

Seto: We’ll continue running.
