Here's a detailed report about D-Stage „Kensatsugawa no Shounin“ (or at least I tried my best).
Please enjoy it :)

First I tried to draw the main stages. This is the office of the lawyers.
And this is the court room.

I also did a chart of the main characters, including little pictures from the pamphlet (bigger ones at the end, for those who want to see them).

THE REPORT

--
Lawyers’ office.
Katayama and Kamiya are arguing about something, then Kamiya leaves.
--
Koshikata enters the room, he and Katayama are talking. Later Hoshino also enters.
Mostly they talk about how they need some client/job. Katayama wants to get his pay and also says that they have to pay back some money or so. The tap water needs to be repaired (it doesn’t taste very good).
The telephone rings and Koshikata tells Katayama to answer it. It’s a client, but in the end he says that he will search for another lawyer and ends the call abruptly.
Koshikata and Hoshino end up arguing, as they so often do. (One point is the woman that Koshikata liked some time ago, but they split up. Koshikata generally doesn’t seem to cope well with women, on the opposite Hoshino does get along with them very well.) At one point Katayama uses a bell to stop the fight and everyone was shocked by it. (“Don’t use that again.” “I won’t use it ever again.”) The paintings fall off the wall, so Katayama and Koshikata put them up again. (The one painting/picture is about a legendary case the two lawyers won.) Koshikata then wants to eat some sweets to calm down again, but someone else ate them. He accuses Hoshino, but Katayama jumps in (before they start arguing more) and explains that he ate them when he wasn’t feeling well. Koshikata kind of doesn’t know how to react and just tells him not to take the sweets as he pleases.
---
After some time someone knocks on the door. They are afraid, Hoshino covers his head with a cloth (like this) and hides behind his desk. Koshikata is expecting the visitor and Katayama opens the door. But first there is no one to see. Then suddenly someone enters and asks whether this is the office of Koshikata and Hoshino. Koshikata moves towards him and affirms it, Hoshino stands up too, so that the visitor can see him. The visitor says that he is looking for Koshikata because he has a problem. The visitor asks Hoshino for a water to drink, Hoshino explains that he also is a lawyer (but gets ignored) and grumpily sits down at his desk. The visitor and Koshikata sit down on the couch and talk.
“What is your concern?” “I’m in trouble.” “The people who are coming here are usually in trouble.” “I am accused of murder.” “That is trouble….” “See! That’s why I came here.”
“I’m sorry (for being impolite), what is your name?” “Oh, you’re not impolite at all! I’m Tachibana.”
“Oh, just before everything. I don’t have money.” “Heh?” “I can’t pay you. But will you help me anyway?” Koshikata agrees unwillingly. “Great! My wife was right! It was a good decision to come here!”
Tachibana says that he is unemployed at the moment, but most of the time he was working as a salesman before and he demonstrates it in some way.
Katayama takes the newspaper and reads out some article.
“Yes! That’s the one! But I didn’t kill her!!”
Tachibana says that he got to know an old lady in Ginza.
“There was a woman on the street and her bags fell down when a car was coming.” “So you rescued her life?” “Well, I just went there, the car stopped and I picked up her bags.”
He says that he met the same woman again in Asakusa.
“I was thinking of watching a movie. Then I saw her again close to the cinema.” (Tachibana uses Katayama as the lady to show the situation.) “She looked like she had some problem, so I went to ask her if I could help. She said ‘I want to watch a movie but I don’t know how to enter the cinema.’ So in the end we went to watch the movie together. Afterwards she invited me to her house for tea. I didn’t know that she was rich!” “But you still kept going there?” “Well… you know, I don’t have a mother anymore, so I kinda wanted to be sweet to her. But I didn’t kill her!!” “Do you have an alibi?” “I came home on that day at 9.30pm and I didn’t leave the house again. My wife can verify that.” “Did you see anyone one your way home?” “No, no one. I didn’t see anyone else on that evening.”
Tachibana explains that he had visited the woman on that evening but he went home before the murder happened. Koshikata says that Tachibana’s wife can’t be trusted in court since she is his wife and loves him. (Tachibana seems to not get the part that she could lie because she loves him.) Tachibana talks a little about his wife and also mentions that she was an actress before. He met her in Kyoto.
Then the newspaper comes and Hoshino is reading it.
“But there is one good point that is against you killing the lady. You don’t have a reason.” “Really? Thank you so much!! I knew it was good to come here!! Thank you!!”
Then Hoshino is reading out something from the newspaper, that Tachibana inherited 1000 (?) Yen.
Tachibana is happy and exclaims, “Really? Wow!! So cool!!!!!” but then he realized “Isn’t that bad…?” “Yes, that would give you a reason to kill her.” “No!!! Why did you do that, old lady?! Now I’m in trouble!” “Let’s calm down, there still might be a way.…”
It knocks on the door (and they know it’s the police). Tachibana hides at the right side of the room (close to Koshikata’s desk). The police enter and ask whether Tachibana is there. Tachibana replies with a “No”. The police say that they want to arrest him, so Tachibana stretches out his arms to be arrested. The police just take his arms and kind of push him forward.
“What about the handcuffs?” “Do you want to run away?” “No.” “Then we don’t need handcuffs.” “Really? Well, I never got arrested before so I don’t know…”
Everyone is moving towards the door when Tachibana remembers something and tries to get away from the police. They let him and he explains that Koshikata should call his wife to explain everything. Then the police and Tachibana leave.
--
Hoshino, Katayama and Koshikata are alone again. Koshikata stands in front of the telephone but he can’t make a call, so he appoints Katayama to do it. Then there is a knock again.
Katayama looks who is there and sees a woman. Koshikata and Hoshino get nervous and both knock over their trash can. After they cleaned up it again, Katayama opens the door to let the woman come inside. She introduces herself as Tachibana’s wife.
Koshikata gets even more nervous and wants Hoshino to take over but he refuses. So Koshikata and Tachibana’s wife sit down on the couch.
“I have to tell you something. Please stay calm.” (Himself being freaked out totally, but the wife being completely calm.) “Your husband was just arrested.” (Saying as if he expects the wife to cry out or something.) “That’s what I expected.” (All calm) “”Ah…okay.…” (He is puzzled, he didn’t expect that reaction.) They continue talking.
Tachibana’s wife says the same story as Tachibana, that he came home at 9.30pm and didn’t leave the house after that. Koshikata explains that it means that she is the only one who can witness for Tachibana then. The wife suddenly gets up and is all happy. “That’s all I wanted to know! Hahaha!” She leaves the office. Koshikata and Hoshino look puzzled. Then they talk about that woman and about how she was behaving.
“In other words…” “That is not a woman!”
--
Court.
Everyone in their seats. Then the police officer Toudou tells everyone to stand up, so they stand up and sit down again. Toudou criticizes Hoshino not being there. Koshikata stammers something. Toudou thinks that Koshikata wants to say “I’m sincerely sorry” and says it to the judge. They decide to start. (Btw. The judge has a cold, he sometimes sneezes loudly, blows his nose and once he even fell down from his chair because he was sneezing so much.)
The first witness is a policeman. He reports how he found the old lady.
At the moment when Toudou wants to interrogate the policeman, Hoshino arrives. He gives some stupid excuse for coming late but then everything continues. The policeman says that he got an emergency call by the house keeper, Katsu. He found the old lady dead and the window was broken, with the glass outside. Nothing inside the room was missing.
The next witness is Katsu. She is a little corpulent old lady, who waves at the rest of the family in the audience when she enters the court. The judge asks for her name, age, occupation.
“Didn’t you just read my name?” She complains and walks towards the judge. The judge kind of affirmed. “I have to say my age here in front of everyone?” She doesn’t like it. “Isn’t it written somewhere there as well?” In the end she only says her occupation “House keeper”.
Toudou is trying to have a good, calm behaviour towards her, laughing and everything (but when he turns away he looks annoyed). Katsu says that on that evening she was out to visit her family (waving at them again), but she had forgotten something, so she came back to pick it up. At that time (around 7pm) she heard the old lady and Tachibana talking and laughing. She knows Tachibana’s voice very well. When she came home around 9.30pm again, she found the old lady dead. She cries at that point and accuses Tachibana again (she obviously dislikes him a lot). Tachibana jumps up and says that he hasn’t done it, but police make him sit down again. Katsu also says that the old lady read 2 books where old ladies married a younger guy and she was worried that the old lady was thinking about something like that. (The old lady didn’t know that Tachibana had a wife.)
After Toudou finishes interrogating, Hoshino continues (somehow Koshikata isn’t able to really talk inside the court, so Hoshino is doing everything. Sometimes Koshikata shows him an excerpt from a book or writes down something.). He asks whether the old lady listened to the radio sometimes, because there is some drama on the time when Katsu heard the laughter. Katsu says that the old lady indeed listened to the radio but at that time the radio was away to be repaired.
The next witness is Tachibana’s wife. When she enters, Tachibana shouts “Shimako!!” to her. But she kind of acts cool. She says that Tachibana came home at 10:10pm on that night, “I killed that lady. Can you help me?” is what Tachibana had said. As Tachibana hears his wife saying that, he freaks out. Also Hoshino and Koshikata are shocked about what they are hearing.
Throughout the interrogation they get to know that she just lied before to help Tachibana, because he had helped her before. They aren’t married for real because Shimako was married to another guy before.
Everyone thinks that it’s over now but Hoshino wants to interrogate Tachibana at last. Tachibana says that he had visited the lady at that night but went home; he denies that he has murdered her.
Toudou asks why Tachibana entered a travel agency one week before the old lady was killed, together with some woman. “Is it forbidden to go to a travel agency for fun?” “I met the girl on the street and we just went inside there together, nothing more. It wasn’t serious.” “I don’t know why Shimako said this, but I came home at 9:30pm at that night!”
He is asked why he didn’t tell the old lady that he was married. “I just thought it wasn’t good…”
The court ends.
--
In front of the curtain.
A group of dancers (male and female). They run off the stage, only one dancer is left. Tachibana comes along, with a rose behind his back. “I saw you yesterday when I didn’t feel well, but afterwards I felt a lot better, so I wanted to give you this present.” At first the woman isn’t very impressed but then she accepts the rose. She asked for his name and he tells her, but then she is called by someone and has to leave. Tachibana promises to come again on the next day.
[That is the place that Tachibana rescues Shimako from.]
--
In front of the curtain.
Katsu is cleaning the garden when Tachibana appears. He asks whether the old lady was there, but Katsu says she wasn’t. Katsu’s behaviour shows that she doesn’t like Tachibana at all, she wants him to leave. Tachibana has a present and hands it to Katsu, she takes it and then throws it on the floor, saying that she doesn’t want that. Then Tachibana picks it up again and hands it to Katsu again. This time she takes it. Tachibana leaves, saying that he will come again another time.
--
Lawyer’s office.
Katayama and Kamiya are arguing again, Kamiya leaves angrily, the moment when Koshikata and Hoshino come back. “Who was that?” “Oh, just someone…” They hear some loud cursing. “….”
Koshikata and Hoshino say that they ate dinner, but they both ate only half of their meal, at different restaurants.
Katayama leaves and Koshikata and Hoshino are alone. Then suddenly a woman enters the office, Hoshino first approaches her. She says that she has a letter from Shimako, who wrote to her secret lover. Hoshino and Koshikata are very interested. The woman wants a lot of money for it, but the lawyers say that they don’t have the money. Then Koshikata takes his wallet and gives her 4 yen, which is all he had inside the wallet. The woman hands them the letter and they look at it. Shimako writes to a guy (called ??) that she was going to lie about Tachibana to make him look guilty, so that afterwards she would be free to go to him.
Koshikata and Hoshino are very happy about getting that letter. The woman somehow gets some more money from Hoshino as well and before she leaves she shows them her burned ear.
The two lawyers talk and again they agree “That is not a woman!”.
--
In front of the curtain.
Toudou sits on a bank. Koshikata and Hoshino approach him. Toudou is their sempai, they tell him that they decided to become lawyers. Toudou dislikes the decision and rather wants them to come to the police.
--
Court.
Hoshino is late again.
Shimako comes inside. Hoshino uses a trick where he reads from a letter, then Shimako says that it’s a copy and admits that there is an original. Then Hoshino draws the original (that they had gotten from the woman in the office). Tachibana can’t believe that Shimako has someone else she loves and freaks out, Shimako is shocked about the truth being found out; that she had lied for the lover’s sake.
--
In front of the curtain.
Katayama, Koshikata and Hoshino are standing around, waiting for the break to be over. A woman comes along and asks for the way, all three men offer to show her the way. She decides for Katayama (they both leave).
Then Kamiya appears and asks Koshikata and Hoshino to give a message to Katayama (about being a team, he finally understood everything when he saw the two lawyers in the court).
Koshikata and Hoshino are confused and want to ask something but Kamiya already leaves.
--
Court.
It is decided that Tachibana is not guilty. Little by little, everyone is leaving. At last there are Shimako, Tachibana, Hoshino, Koshikata and Katayama left. Then Tachibana is called.
“Now that I’m not guilty, they are suddenly polite and even use a ‘-san’.” He leaves.
The remaining ones talk and then Shimako tells them that she did everything just to rescue Tachibana. She first lied because no one would believe her if she had said the truth. She also wrote that letter by herself, she shows them her ear and Hoshino and Koshikata are shocked to see the same burned ear which they had seen at night.
Then Tachibana comes inside again. “You might not believe it, but Shimako was an actress before! Isn’t that what I told you?!” Then he talks to her. “I was sure that you would come up with something. Thank you!”
A woman enters the court and runs up to Tachibana. “So what about the travel we were planning? Are we still going to do that?” Everyone is surprised.
Then Tachibana explains. “I rescued you, Shimako. Now you rescued me. With that, we’re done. Thanks.” He wants to leave with the woman when Shimako grabs the knife and stabs Tachibana. They somehow end up disappearing through the right door (that the audience used) and then Shimako comes back, the knife has some blood. She is arrested immediately.
Hoshino and Koshikata look at each other. “We’re going to be her lawyers!” And they follow her. Katayama grins and follows them as well.

These are official pictures I found. They might help to get a little impression about the office and the first scenes.

My thoughts:
I liked the stage play... but maybe I liked Venice more. Kensatsu was too much talk and too less action. Also, I hadn't read the book or watched anything, so there are some parts I maybe didn't get. (I also didn't get Katayama's and Kamiya's relationship very well...)
I totally liked the clothes that Koshikata wore for the court...with the cap on his head, so cute <3 I wish I could show it to you T-T
I also liked the relationship between Koshikata and Tachibana when Tachibana first appeared. And of course I loved the relationship between Koshikata and Hoshino :P
Toudou also was very funny, how his reaction changed all the time XD
It's really sad that there won't be a DVD of the stage itself, that's why I did my best in writing this report. There's no way this is 100% correct... but that's what I got out of my memory ;)
